The battle lines on the agapanthus

Gardening expert and bio-diversity advocates who opposed the New Zealand plant are most popular.

But this very characteristic that means should be banned from sale, according to Carolyn Lewis, national coordinator of Weedbusters, a collaboration of government agencies and horticultural interests.

“Weedbusters know agapanthus plant is a problem in most areas of the country and we would like to see added to the Ministry of agriculture and forestry ‘ s National Pest Plant accord,” he said. “This does not mean people will have to remove them from their gardens, but it will stop selling plants, and with education may be its spread.”
